If you know anything about me, then you know I love ice cream. There is just something so refreshing about it, and since I pretty much don’t eat dairy, I wanted to find some good alternatives. I love the cashew milk ice cream from So Delicious, but I wanted to find some good ice cream cones and sandwiches. I tried Jolly Llama which is both gluten-free and vegan. I have tried 3 of their products, the two ice cream cones in Vanilla Fudge Sundae and Caramel Chocolate Chip and their Cool Mint Chip ice cream sandwich.
I loved the vanilla cone, it has a nice layer of chocolate on the top and mini chocolate chips. It wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet, it had a nice balance between the chocolate and the vanilla. The cone is amazing considering it’s gluten-free, some gluten-free cones tend to seem a little stale, and this wasn’t like that at all. It has a nice crunch to it, but it wasn’t crumbly. It has also has a nice layer of chocolate coating the inside of the cone. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the Caramel Chocolate Chip cone, it was a little to sweet for me, but if you like your ice cream to be sweeter, this would be perfect for you. The Mint Chip sandwich was amazing!! Mint Chip ice cream has always been one of my favorites, and this was so good I almost forgot it was dairy free. Overall I would give Jolly Llama a 10/10. If you’re looking for a good dairy and gluten-free alternative to ice cream cones and sandwiches, I would definitely give them a try.
I used to hate normal brownies, I always thought they were too rich, but I love vegan brownies. They aren’t too rich, the texture is just right, and they are very enjoyable. Even my younger brother who used to cram brownies into his mouth when he was little, loves them.
I started by gathering all of my ingredients, and then I mixed everything together in a big bowl. If you feel like your batter is too runny, you can always add a little more flour.
Then I put the brownie batter into my pan, I don’t have the right kind of pan for brownies, so I just used a cake pan.
I added a few Enjoy Life chocolate morsels to my brownies, it adds a nice burst of flavor to the brownies, but adding the chocolate morsels does make the brownies less firm. I wouldn’t recommend adding them if you’re trying to impress, but it would be great to put on ice cream.
Then I put them in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes.
1 1/4 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour
¾ granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup cocoa powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ cup avocado oil
¾ almond milk
1. Mix together dry ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Add wet ingredients to dry and mix together.
3. Pour batter into greased brownie pan.
4. Press chocolate morsels into brownies. *optional
5. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes, until knife comes out clean.
Cookies are one of the best, easy treats to make at home, and they taste much better than store-bought cookies. Whether you’re making cookies for yourself, or for some other occasion, these vegan gluten-free oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are perfect. The texture is slightly crispy on the outside, and soft and gooey on the inside. They’re not to sweet, and they have just the right amount chocolate.

Then I took and put the cookie dough on an oiled cookie sheet, I used about a tablespoon of cookie dough for each cookie. I was able to make about six cookies at once, but depending on the size of the cookies you want, and your cookie sheet, you should be able to make more.
I put my cookies in the oven at 325 for 20 minutes, and they turned out perfectly. If you make larger cookies, they make take a little bit longer to bake, and if you make smaller ones you might want to check on them a little sooner.
Vegan Gluten-free Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 cup almond milk
2-3 tbsp avocado oil
1 cup chocolate chips
- Preheat oven to 325.
- Mix together dry ingredients in large bowl.
- Mix together wet ingredients.
- Mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
- Evenly place a tablespoon of cookie dough for each cookie onto an oiled cookie sheet, until you run out of room.
- Bake for 20 minutes.
- Makes about 16.
Hot chocolate is a winter staple for many people. It’s a nice rich, creamy cup of chocolate. What could be better? If you’ve decided not to consume dairy, you do not have to skip out on the deliciousness that is called hot chocolate. I’ve always liked almond milk hot chocolate, so I decided to make my favorite version of it. This vegan hot chocolate has a rich, creamy chocolate flavor that is just the right amount of sweet. Top it with almond milk whipped cream, and you have yourself a cup of perfection.
First grab your ingredients, I used Hershey’s cocoa powder because it’s gluten-free, but you can use whatever you like. Measure out all of the ingredients, then put them in a small pot on medium heat. Stir frequently until all the ingredients are mixed together.
You’re hot chocolate should like something like this. Pour it into a cup, top with some whipped cream, and enjoy!
Easy Vegan Hot Chocolate
1 cup of almond milk
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1/3 cup of sugar
- Add ingredients to a small pot.
- Heat ingredients on medium heat, stir till there are no lumps.
- Top with whipped cream.
- Serves 1.
One of my favorite things about winter is soup. I love having a nice, warm bowl of soup on a cold winter day. I’ve been making variations of this soup for a few months now, I’ve added green cabbage, green beans, carrots, and bok choy. You can pretty much just add any leftover vegetables you have.
I started by chopping up my potatoes and then adding them to the vegetable broth so that the potatoes would start getting soft. Then I chopped up all my other vegetables and added them in with the potatoes. I went by feel when adding the herbs, but I probably used about a 1/2 teaspoon of each one, and I just added as much salt and pepper as I wanted.
Gluten-Free Vegan Vegetable Soup
1 bell pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 bunch of green onions
8 red potatoes
1 red onion
1 bunch of celery
2 cartons of vegetable broth
Start by chopping up the potatoes, then put them into a large pot, add the broth and boil on medium heat. While your potatoes are boiling chop up the other vegetables and then add them into the pot with the potatoes. Add your herbs, then boil everything on medium heat until potatoes are soft. Serves about 6-8.
